B# invests at pre-seed stage. At this stage, startups often have no product or only an early prototype, and market validation may still be limited.

The focus is on the founding team, the vision, the underlying technology, and the long-term market potential rather than on traction alone.

Pre-seed startups are typically up to eighteen months old. Many were founded very recently or are still in the process of formal company formation. This phase is characterized by testing assumptions, refining the business model, and defining product–market fit.

A core objective of B# is that selected startups are able to raise a seed round successfully after approximately eighteen months.

B# focuses on disruptive and highly scalable business models with clear differentiation and large market potential. The emphasis is on technology-driven solutions in the field of DeepTech.

DeepTech refers to startups whose core innovation is based on significant scientific or technological breakthroughs. This includes areas such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, robotics and automation, climate technologies and new materials, as well as biotech, medtech, or industrial technologies.

These solutions are typically difficult to replicate, research-intensive, and designed to create long-term value.

For B#, being VC-fit means that founders are open to feedback, willing to learn, and ready to embark on a shared learning journey with their investors. Founders are expected to think strategically, remain ambitious, and be coachable while still maintaining a strong and independent vision for their company.

The founding team is a key decision factor for B#. Important aspects include a complementary diverse skill sets within the team, long-term commitment, resilience, and a strong willingness to continuously learn and develop the company together with B#.

All applications should be submitted exclusively via the application form. This ensures a fair and structured process and gives every startup the same opportunity to be evaluated under equal conditions.

Because B# operates at a very early stage, the program explicitly encourages founders without prior founding experience to apply.

At the same time, B# is open to all founders, regardless of their background, as long as they demonstrate strong potential, ambition, and the willingness to learn.
